Eligibility is based on your year in the DNP Primary Care (DNP-PC) program and your clinical course enrollment:
- Year 2 DNP-PC students are eligible during NCLIN 516 and NCLIN 517 (Spring/Summer Cohort)
- Year 3 DNP-PC students are eligible during NCLIN 518 and NCLIN 801 (Autumn/Winter Cohort)
In addition to timing, your clinical rotation site must be located in a Medically Underserved Area (MUA) or a rural area, as verified using HRSA tools (see FAQ 3 for details).
Applications open approximately three weeks before the end of the preceding quarter, depending on your cohort:
- Spring/Summer Cohort (Year 2): Applications open three weeks before the end of Autumn Quarter
- Autumn/Winter Cohort (Year 3): Applications open three weeks before the end of Spring Quarter
Students will receive an email notification with application details, and information will also be posted on the ANEW-WA Apply page.
To be eligible for ANEW-WA funding, your clinical site must be located in a Medically Underserved Area (MUA) or a rural area—not just a Health Professional Shortage Area (HPSA). Use the following tools to confirm eligibility:
- Medically Underserved Area (MUA) Tool: HRSA MUA Finder
- Rural Area Tool: HRSA Rural Health Map
To qualify, your clinical site must return a green check mark in at least one of these tools under “Rural” or “MUA/P”. If it does not, the site is not considered HRSA-eligible for ANEW-WA funding. Examples of eligible site output below:
If you’re unsure or need help interpreting the results, please contact the ANEW-WA team or the Office of Clinical Placements for guidance.
