Timeline
ANEW-WA is a 6-month training opportunity for DNP students in primary care DNP tracks during the 2nd or 3rd year of the program. There are two cohorts offered each academic year:
Autumn/Winter Cohort
- Available to Year 3 DNP-PC students
- Offered during NCLIN 518 and NCLIN 801
- Application opens 3 weeks before the end of Spring Quarter
Spring/Summer Cohort
- Available to Year 2 DNP-PC students
- Offered during NCLIN 516 and NCLIN 517
- Application opens 3 weeks before the end of Autumn Quarter
Application Information
The ANEW-WA application will require you to provide the following information:
- Full name
- UW email address
- UW student number
- National Provider Identifier (NPI) number
- DNP track
The application will also ask you to answer 2 essay questions:
- Please describe your past experiences, personal or professional, working with communities that experience disparities in health care. (300 words or less)
- Please describe your career goals and plans that demonstrate your commitment to working with rural and/or medically underserved communities. (300 words or less)
Please refer to HRSA definitions for the following terms to assist in preparing your essay answers:
- Rural: A geographical area located in a non-metropolitan county, or an area located in a metropolitan county designated by the Federal Office of Rural Health Policy as rural.
- Medically underserved area: Counties, a group of counties or civil divisions, or a group of urban census tracts in which residents have a shortage of personal health services.
- Medically Underserved Populations (MUPs): Federally-designated population groups having a shortage of personal health services, often defined as groups who face economic, cultural, or linguistic barriers to health care, and limited access to services.
